Redford, my son and the SDJGA 2013 Player of the Year, made the cut on Friday for the 115th Annual SCGA Amateur Championship at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club.

He shot two rounds of 74 for 4 over par and tied for 22nd place. He will tee off on Saturday morning at 8:09am. You can follow the live leaderboard and track Redford’s progress throughout the rest of the event.

I am carrying the bag for him for this tournament and I couldn’t be prouder of his progress from last year. Playing NCAA Division 1 golf for a year at UNLV has given him more consistency, confidence and maturity. As a golf instructor, I can see the consistency in his game. As a dad, I see the maturity of my son in the last 12 months.
Instructing Junior Golfers is one of the best aspects of my job. Seeing my son hone his game at the collegiate level gives me so much pride because I know that I have instilled a great foundation that his golf coaches at UNLV are taking to the next level.
Wish us luck as we tackle the next two days and we hope to climb the leaderboard against some of the best competition in Southern California!

I am proud to announce that I am one of the first sports instructors on TakeLessons.com, and the FIRST GOLF INSTRUCTOR!
I was approached last week to gauge my interest in being among their first sports instructors on this very popular website. After speaking with them, I thought it was a great way to reach more students, especially in the Junior Golf lessons — since Take Lessons has about 80% under 18 students using their site.
This year, I am focusing on Junior Golfers during their Spring Break and Summer Holidays. As you may know, I have a proven track record in sending Juniors off to the Callaway Junior Worlds — averaging ten players a year. Also, as the life long instructor for my son, Redford, I see how mentoring kids on not only golf, but also nutrition and proper exercise has an impact on their entire game. I am proud to say that Redford was not only the 2013 San Diego County Junior Golf Associations Player of the Year, but he is also continuing his golf at UNLV.
If you are interested in golf lessons for your kids, or have friends or family who may be interested, please send them my way.

As you may have read from an earlier post, my son, Redford Bobbitt was named the San Diego County Junior Golf Associations’ 2013 Player of the Year.
As a parent, first and foremost, and as an instructor, I couldn’t be more proud of my son for this major accomplishment.
Here is a one minute introduction of Redford: Introduction of Redford
Redford made a great speech, here: Redford’s Speech
I am so proud of him and this major milestone in his career.

My son, Redford Bobbitt, entered 10 tournaments this year and earned a total of 1,270 points, finishing 287.50 points ahead of the 2nd place finisher Tyler Moore (982.5 pts). This fantastic year was capped off by Redford winning the San Diego County Junior Golf Associations Player of the Year at the SDJGA Awards Banquet at the Hall of Champions this weekend.

Besides Redford, I also coached several other award winners this season.

These are the Glossner sisters. Kiana took third place in the Girls 8-under category; while big sister Napua took fourth place in the Girls 9-10 year old bracket.

In the Boys ages 9-10 division, my student Darrien Zhao took home second place!

Finally, Phillip Kench, playing in the Boys 8-under division, also took home second place this year.
Congratulations to the all my students for showing great determination and skill this season – way to execute what we practiced. A special thanks to all the parents out there as well!
Teaching Junior Golf has been a passion of mine for years, ever since my son took an interest in following in my footsteps and took up golf.
Redford, graduated from Torrey Pines this summer and just wrapped up his Freshman fall season playing for the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels under Head Coach Dwaine Knight and his Assistant Coach JC Deacon. UNLV begins their spring season on Feb. 19 in Hawaii at the John Burns Intercollegiate.
In 2014, I will be starting a series of Junior Golf Clinics on Wednesday Nights.
